چکیده

This work reports room temperature Davydov splitting in triplet transitions Tn ← T1 of tetracene single crystals. This was observed through femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy with polarized ‖ b and ⊥ b probing on the (ab) face of the 300 nm thick crystal. A Davydov splitting of 0.04 eV (286 cm−1) was obtained on an excited state absorption signal ascribed to triplet excitons in Birech et al, jcp, Vol. 140, 114501, 2014. © 2014 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 160.4890

Polarization-dependent exciton dynamics in tetracene single crystals.

We conduct polarization-dependent ultrafast spectroscopy to study the dynamics of singlet fission (SF) in tetracene single crystals. The spectrotemporal species for singlet and triplet excitons in transient absorption spectra are found to be strongly dependent on probe polarization. By carefully analyzing the polarization dependence, the signals contributed by different transitions related to s...

Opposite Anisotropy Effects of Singlet and Triplet Exciton Diffusion in Tetracene Crystal

We observe the diffusion anisotropy difference between singlet and triplet excitons in organic crystals; that is, singlet and triplet excitons may have completely different spatial direction preference for diffusion. This phenomenon can be ascribed to the distinct dependence of different excitonic couplings (Coulomb Förster vs. exchange Dexter) existing in singlet and triplet excitons on their ...

Excitation dynamics in single molecular crystals of a-hexathiophene from femtoseconds to milliseconds

We identify oddand even-parity states and measure transient photomodulation spectra of Frenkel excitons in a-hexathiophene single crystals. The lowest Frenkel excitons are characterized by a stimulated emission band at ;2 eV and an absorption band at 1.3 eV. Intramolecular internal conversion governs transitions from upper excited states to the lowest exciton and occurs in 200 fs. We observe ex...

Identification of a triplet pair intermediate in singlet exciton fission in solution.

Singlet exciton fission is the spin-conserving transformation of one spin-singlet exciton into two spin-triplet excitons. This exciton multiplication mechanism offers an attractive route to solar cells that circumvent the single-junction Shockley-Queisser limit. Most theoretical descriptions of singlet fission invoke an intermediate state of a pair of spin-triplet excitons coupled into an overa...

Mobile and Trapped Triplet States in Single Crystals of Charge Transfer Complexes

Homogeneously doped crystals of charge transfer (CT-) complexes were grown by incorporating aromatic guest donors in host CT-crystals. The host crystals contained 1,2.4,5-tetracyanobenzene (TCNB) as acceptor and deuterated aromatic electron donors. By using such doped crystals CTcomplexes in a well defined configuration may be studied. The triplet states of the guest complexes were used as ESR ...
